Teacher MFA requests

Sometimes a student can't use their usual sign-in method, for example because they left their QR code card at home. If the Teacher method is allowed for them, they can ask a teacher to confirm who they are instead. Those requests appear on the Teacher MFA Requests page.

Who can use this page: Teacher Request Reviewer, MFA Manager, MFA Policy Manager or Global Administrator.

The Teacher Authentication Requests page, with filters for campus, year level, house and class, and a list of pending requests.

How a teacher request works

  1. On the sign-in page, the student chooses the teacher option.
  2. The student's screen shows a ticket number and "Waiting for teacher approval".
  3. The request appears on this page for teachers to see.
  4. A teacher checks it is really that student, then approves or denies it.
  5. If approved, the student's sign-in carries on. If denied, the sign-in stops.

Requests expire after a short time. Expired requests can't be approved; the student needs to start a new sign-in.

Find requests

The list shows pending requests. Use the filters to narrow it down:

  • Campus, Year Level and House
  • Class, with My classes only to just show classes you teach

Select Clear Filters to remove all filters. Select Refresh Request List to check for new requests.

Approve or deny one request

  1. Select the request to open it.
  2. Check the details: the student's name, where they are signing in from (a map, city and country), the time, and their device.
  3. Respond:
    • No number matching: select Approve Request.
    • Number matching: ask the student for the ticket number on their screen. Type it in and select Approve Request, or select the matching number from the options shown.
    • To refuse, select Deny Request.
An open teacher request, showing the Respond section with Deny Request and the ticket number options, and the student's location map.
Always check the student in person

Only approve a request when you can see the student and you are sure it is them. Approving a request lets that person into the student's account.

Approve or deny several requests at once

  1. Tick the box next to each request.
  2. Select Approve Selected or Deny Selected.
  3. A summary shows which requests worked and which failed, with the reason.

You can't tick requests that are already approved or denied, have expired, or use number matching. Number matching requests must be answered one at a time.
