Domain names

Your school's domain names are the parts of email addresses after the @, such as example.edu.au. When a staff member types their email address on the admin portal sign-in page, AuthCop uses the domain to find your school.

Only verified domains work

Staff can only use a domain to sign in once it is Verified. Add and verify every domain your staff use.

Who can use this page: Global Administrator.

Add a domain

  1. Select Add Domain.

  2. Type the domain, for example example.edu.au, and select Add Domain. You'll see "Domain already exists" if your school has already added it, or if another school has already verified it.

  3. AuthCop shows a DNS record to create:

    FieldValue
    TypeTXT
    HostYour domain name, as shown
Valueauthcop-verify= followed by a code, as shown
    TTLAuto or 3600
  4. Ask whoever manages your school's DNS (your IT team or domain provider) to add this TXT record. Use the copy buttons to copy the values exactly.

The Add Domain panel showing the TXT record host and value to copy.

Verify a domain

DNS changes can take a while to spread, sometimes up to a day. Once the record has been added:

  1. Find the domain in the list. It shows Unverified.
  2. Select Verify.
  3. If AuthCop finds the record, the domain changes to Verified. If not, wait a while and try again.

Verifying proves your school owns the domain. Leave the TXT record in place after the domain is verified.

Only one school can verify a domain. If another school has already verified it, you'll see "Domain has already been verified by another tenant". Contact AuthCop support if you think your school should own it.

Delete a domain

Select Delete next to the domain and confirm. This can't be undone.

warning

Staff whose email address uses a deleted domain can no longer find your school on the admin portal sign-in page.

Tips

  • Add every domain your staff sign in with. For example, if some staff use example.edu.au and others use example.vic.edu.au, add both.
