Welcome to the AuthCop Admin Guide
AuthCop adds an extra sign-in check for students at your school. When a student signs in with their Microsoft account, Microsoft Entra asks AuthCop to confirm it is really them. The student then proves who they are, for example by scanning their own QR code card. Once they pass, Microsoft finishes signing them in.
This guide is for school staff who use the AuthCop admin portal. It explains every page in the portal: what it is for, how to use it, and how your changes affect students when they sign in.

The two parts of AuthCop you will see
| Part | Who uses it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Admin portal | School staff | Manage users, groups, sign-in methods, access policies, reports and settings. |
| Sign-in page (also called Verify) | Students | Appears during a Microsoft sign-in. The student picks a sign-in method and proves who they are. |
The admin portal also opens a separate PDF window when you print QR code cards. See Print QR code cards.
Where to start
- New to AuthCop? Read How student sign-in works, then follow First-time setup.
- Need to do a task? Use the menu on the left. Each page in the admin portal has a matching help page.
- Something not working? Go to Troubleshooting.
- Not sure what a word means? See Key terms.
What you can see depends on your permissions
The admin portal only shows the pages you are allowed to use. If a page in this guide is missing from your menu, you may not have the right permission, or the feature may not be turned on for your school. See Admin permissions.
Some pages are marked Preview in this guide. These features are still being built. They may not be turned on for your school yet, and they may change.
